The front yard has a large tree that provides plenty of shade during the summer months, lavender bushes lining the walkway, and window boxes. It is also fully fenced with a gate that can be shut to keep kids and critters in or it can be easily removed if you don't need it. There is a cemented dog run along the side of the house leading to the back yard.
The backyard is a great size and has a new wooden 8 ft privacy fence that we just put up this summer.
There is a long row of lilac trees along the back that are beautiful during the spring, summer, and early fall. You will also enjoy the mature cherry tree out back.
We have a large Master Square Foot Garden in the corner of the yard.
Hopefully you enjoy gardening, because our garden is such a pleasure to work in!! It features six grow boxes (two 3x5s, two 4x6s, one 2x14, and one 2x16) that are lined on the bottom with a thick weed barrier and are filled with a special soil mixture that enables you to grow tons of flowers, fruits, and vegetables in a small space.
The boxes are already lined with a drip system that works on an automated timer so you never have to worry about watering. The entire garden area is covered with weed barrier and covered with rock too. Weeding is absolutely no hassle with this method.

I wish I could share some pictures of the garden during the summer with you, but we lost both years' pictures to a computer virus. I have attached two sample pictures and you can watch a brief introduction to square foot gardening here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5Lu-7FIj_g.
Below is a picture of the carrots that I just pulled out of one 1ft x 1 ft square. You can grow up to 16 carrots in one square foot! We also built a compost bin that is right next to the storage shed.

We have gone through a lot of effort to make the yard attractive while still remaining low maintenance. When we moved here we were unpleasantly surprised by the tenacity and willpower of Idaho's desert weeds! We came from the rainy Northwest and were expecting a respite from heavy weeding, but we were quite wrong. The wind blown weeds here are quite resilient and unpleasant. Consequently, we have put down a heavy weed barrier and bark/rock throughout the yard except where there is grass. It took a while to do, but it was well worth it.
